ABOUT SPS  

Stephen Pasture Seeds (SPS) are an independent wholesale pasture seed suppliers and advisers, established in 1957.

 

SPS are wholesale seed merchants, trading and specialising in pasture and lawn seed. SPS supply pasture seed primarily throughout Victoria through a very extensive network of rural stores. SPS are major distributors for most Australian and many overseas seed companies.

 

SPS stocks one of the largest ranges of temperate pasture seed available and are able to offer unbiased advice. When purchasing seed SPS follow a strict quality control system, thus ensuring the end user receives the best quality seed available. Seed is imported from NZ, USA, and UK along with seed sourced locally.

 

SPS were one of the first six companies in Australia to have passed the accreditation process for the Australian Seed Federation – Code of Practice. The Code of Practice strives to ensure that consumers are provided with consistent and accurate information to enable them to make informed decisions about the suitability of seed for sowing. The Code of Practice logo will be displayed on many of our products.

 

Stephen Pasture Seeds regularly attend the major field days held throughout the year and have a number of trial and demonstration sites located in Victoria, southern New South Wales and the south east of South Australia. The demo sites give SPS staff, other major seed companies, resellers, agronomists and farmers the opportunity to see new varieties grown in local conditions up against existing varieties already available on the market. These sites are an extremely important source of information on how new varieties perform agronomically in different growing conditions. It then gives the farmers the confidence and enthusiasm to try these new varieties on their farm.
