Riverina - YS

A variety that is a direct replacement for Trikkala and can be used wherever Trikkala has been in the past. Riverina has shown to have the highest resistance to all three strains of Phytophthora Root Rot. Phytophthora Root Rot is a major disease affecting production and persistence of sub clovers. Riverina is therefore ideally suited to inland irrigation areas of Victoria and other areas where water logged soils are a major problem. It also has a high resistance to leaf spot and leaf rust making it an obvious choice in areas where diseases are a problem. In trials conducted Riverina has higher winter growth than Trikkala and strong autumn vigour is a feature of Riverina. Hard seed levels of Riverina are around 22% compared to 7% in Trikkala. This gives Riverina a huge advantage in resisting false breaks and improving long term persistence. No other cultivar can match Riverina in terms of the combination of high level resistance to Phytophthora Root Rot, hard seed levels, and tolerance to water logging and excellent seed yield. Excellent stocks for 2007.

Sowing Rate: 10 – 20 kg/ha alone, 6 – 10 kg/ha mix. If using more than one sub clover in a pasture mix the minimum amount that should be sown is 6 kg/ha
