· Perennial clover · Suited to free draining soils under irrigation or 625mm+ rainfall · Dense growth habit suited to close grazing A variety which has shown to have better persistence than most other red clovers under high grazing pressure. A very good variety with better winter production but maintains high productivity in high temperatures. Colenso has performed exceptionally well in all potato growing areas of Victoria as a red clover component in a pasture mix for prime lamb production. It’s also an excellent choice to be sown alone producing hay with quality similar to lucerne. Sowing rates are not as high as most other varieties because of its dense growth habit Colenso is best suited to freely draining soils with a minimum of 625mm rainfall or irrigation.
