An exciting new ultra late maturing arrowleaf clover bred by the DPI Tasmania. Arrotas flowers in late November producing high quality late season feed for lamb and beef finishing and hay production when all annual legumes such as balansa and persian clovers have finished. A deep rooted annual with excellent drought tolerance with very high hard seed levels similar to other varieties if allowed to set seed. Suited to well drained soils and is adapted to pH (Water) range from 5 – 7. Arrotas has huge potential in the western district and Gippsland enabling graziers to finish their stock in times of the year (early summer) where they traditionally haven’t been able to do. Trials conducted in Hamilton showed Arrotas still having a digestibility of 70% in February. Arrotas is cold tolerant and is non-bloating. Arrotas can also be mixed with winter active species like oats and italian ryegrasses to spread the production all year round. Contact SPS for more information.
